NOW IS THE TIME

Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being. Everyone has some risk of developing a mental health disorder regardless of their age, ethnicity, sex, or income. Making sure that we are looking after our mental health can preserve our ability to enjoy life.

Everyone faces challenges in their life that can have an impact on their mental health. At some point we all will experience some sort of loss (loss of a job, loss of a home, death of a loved one, ending of a relationship etc.). The National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates that 1 in 5 people will experience a mental health challenge each year. Only half of the people experiencing mental health challenges receive help.

It is never too late to seek help, although getting help early is important. The good news is that there are ways to support yourself or loved ones who might be struggling with life’s challenges. If you need advice on how to get help our team is available to listen and speak with you to provide you with resources and tools.

Steps to getting help:

1. Noticing that there is a problem

2. Reaching out to our team or another mental health expert to help (if it is an emergency (suicidal or in crisis call 911)

3. Develop a consistent routine that includes therapy

4. Remain hopeful

This May is Mental Health Awareness Month Renewed will be exploring topics and providing daily tools that anyone can use to make their mental health a priority.
