What Does A Therapist Do?

Licensed therapists provide talk therapy for people with mental health disorders and emotional issues. Therapists may practice a variety of types of therapy, but not practice others. Renewed Mental Health Therapists use clinically backed talk therapy styles such as:

In addition to using different styles, therapists may specialize in helping people within certain demographics or treating specific disorders. For example, a therapist could specialize in treating people in the LGBTQ+ community, adolescents, or seniors. Other therapists have a lot of experience helping people with things like:

  • Dementia

  • Alzheimer's

  • PTSD

  • Depression

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Substance Abuse Disorders

  • Psychosis

  • ADHD

What To Expect?

Therapy is a journey for many, as their comfortable patterns and behaviors are analyzed and challenged in hopes of seeing change. Therapy is client-led and the role of the therapist is to walk alongside you during your journey at your pace with guidance and support. It’s important to find a therapist that best fits your needs and makes you feel comfortable. Individuals who succeed in therapy are open-minded to new strategies, willing to try new methods, and dedicated to their scheduled treatment.

During the first session your therapist's main focus will be getting to know you and gain a clear understanding of what you are looking to change, and learn more about why you're looking for help now. Renewed therapists encourages individuals to maintain appropriate focus on their strengths and their abilities to reach their desired goals. Our team is committed to creating and reinforcing hope in the midst of problems.

As therapy goes on be prepared to laugh, grow, cry, and reach goals that you thought were impossible.
